Today’s person: Feodor Chin!
I cannot even remember when or how I met Feo - but clearly I did. It’s always fun when you meet someone who actually has a similar sense of humor, and Feo was cracking me up right away. He has that lightning quick world change that I love in comedy; it’s like a prism shifts with a turn of his head, and suddenly everything is taking off in a direction that makes perfect sense and is completely plausible, but absolutely unpredicted. That moment of commitment to the dangerous, limitless possibility of the slightly alternative version is the necessary insanity of comedy, and Feo has it in his marrow.
We did a few readings together while he was here, and he did a reading of a tv script Michael Ching and I wrote, but then he moved to LA, so now I only see him on tv, and only really interact with him on Facebook. My loss, since I don’t get to experience his drop from broad, generous smile to devastating deadpan as much as I need to.
