Since far too often we only publicly say nice things about people when they are dead I’ve decided to randomly pick a Facebook friend every day and say something nice about them.

Today’s person: Nambi E. Kelley!
Nambi Kelly is nice.
Sometimes the word “nice” can feel weak, or soft, of flabby. “Nice” isn’t “spectacular”, or “mind-exploding”, or “socks blown off.”
But here’s the thing - Nambi is spectacular, and mind exploding, and blows your socks of with her talent, her insights, her passionate storytelling.
She’s also nice.
Nice isn’t weak. Nice is thoughtful, and kind. Nice has a gentle grace. Nice is were you can let your guard down and open your heart. Nice is where you can speak your truth and really be heard.
Nice does not mean a lack of drive, or not being an insurgent in the war against the Evil Empire. Nice doesn’t mean unable to shout truth to power, unable to crack the world open with words, to cast a spell over an audience with language and take them to a new, uncomfortable place where they see truths they had not imagined.
Nice just means you’re not rude about the Revolution, and not that you aren’t a thrilling, dynamic fighter for it.
Nambi is all of that. All of it.
And she’s nice
