Since far too often we only publicly say nice things about people when they are dead I’ve decided to randomly pick a Facebook friend every day and say something nice about them.

Today’s person: AeJay Antonis Marquis!
I first met AeJay when we were both cast in “Dogfight” at S.F. Playhouse. He was feisty and fierce, could sing, dance and act, and was loud and proud about all of it. He’d bucked his family’s plans for him to be a neuropsychologist, jumped full force into theatre, and was riding it for all it was worth. A force of nature.
When I directed him in “The Colored Museum” a few years later he was even more of a cannonball of love and pain and bravery and passionate life fired at an audience that welcomed the blast of truth. AeJay is one of those artists that wants to show the divine fire burning brightly in a clouded world, and demands that the audience or students are not just illuminated but that they take up torches themselves.
