Today’s person: Lesley Tsina!
A few years ago I announced on Facebook that I needed a place to stay in LA while a theatre down there did a reading of one of my plays. It was a quick trip, but it promised to be exciting.
Almost immediately I got a message from an ex-Mime Troupe intern Lesley Tsina. I knew Lesley was doing improv in LA, and when she offered a room for a couple of nights I was very grateful. What I didn’t expect was how generous she would also be with her time, her blistering intellect, and her hilariously cerebral non-sequiturs, and her cats. Seriously... the cats...
While down there I also got to see her improv (I think it was UCB) and saw how she guided the newer cast members, and kept the creations comedically serious rather than just the series of dick jokes the newbies repeatedly gravitated towards. I wish I’d seen her one-person show, but I kept being in shows myself when she was performing. I hope I get another chance, because not much is more truly warm and wonderful than a cat-loving, Super Twin costumed, steely-eyed, supremely nerdy, friendly as all hell, improv master achievement unlocking hero like Lesley.
