May 17, 2019 Today’s person: W Allen Taylor!

Since far too often we only publicly say nice things about people when they are dead I’ve decided to randomly pick a Facebook friend every day and say something nice about them.

Today’s person: W Allen Taylor!

I think I met W. Allen Taylor when he and Velina were in “The Colored Museum” together at the Eureka Theatre. Funny, but with the deep, cool, sexy voice that points out to me how much I sound like an extra on Spongebob. He and Velina were in the “We’re Fabulous” scene, and they were. And he was and is one of those guys you want to hang out with, but I never did. Because I was and am stupid that way. And I felt a little intimidated by this cool, handsome, smart guy who had worked at ACT and the Eureka, and who looked so good with my wife.

Then, years later, and after years of his friendly invitations to lunches, he did something Velina and I have seldom had to deal with - he asked us to dinner. What a friendly thing to do. (We’re not super social - mainly hanging out with each other.) But we went and had a delightful time with he and his wife. Like friends should. It made me deeply regret all the other chances I’d missed to hang out with this kind, talented man.
